This course is designed to offer a solid beginning in landscape. Artist/author Bet Borgeson, a teacher of drawing and painting for over 25 years, will show you how to sort and edit nature's often overwhelming visual detail into dramatic compositions, how to mix color and use it to suggest three-dimensional form and space, and to address its basic issues such as equipment and materials, and whether and when to work on location or from photo references, and much more.
Our online format will include weekly lessons, hands-on drawing assignments, reading of text material, additional personal instruction by Borgeson on a one-to-one basis, plus two private, frank, and fully illustrated critiques. Her online format established in 1999 allows you to set up a schedule that will work for you in your own environment. You may work en plein air or in your workspace for this course.
Prerequisite: A knowledge of basic colored pencil techniques. Completion time is flexible. For examples of participant's work completed in this course see Gallery 3.
Required text: Colored Pencil for the Serious Beginner, by Bet Borgeson.
